At Vickery Holman we are passionate about supporting and developing new surveying talent. As part of our corporate social responsibility work, one of our senior surveyors and a Director at Vickery Holman, Dennis Venn, gives his time to provide seminars for students at Plymouth University.

Having taken time from his day to day surveying role, Dennis attends to provide guest lectures at the University to give students the benefit of his many years of experience in building surveying. Dennis has recently become qualified as an adjudicator, which supports his expert witness work. Within the South West, Dennis is one of the few professionals who is able to provide dispute resolution services, so the ability to pass on some of his knowledge is welcomed.

Richard Dawe, associate professor at the University commented, “On behalf of the university and students I would like to offer our thanks for the contribution you have made to our building surveying module. The two sessions were excellent and provided a practitioner view which is so important for our prospective surveyors.”

As part of Vickery Holman’s graduate training programme, students qualifying with an RICS accredited degree are supported through their two year training contract in order to reach the required competencies of their pathway. They are also given the opportunity to undertake mock APC interviews to give them first hand experience of what to expect when they sit their real assessment, which leads graduates to becoming Members of the RICS.

We are always looking out for new surveying talent to support our South West team based in Truro, Plymouth, Exeter and Bristol and would love to hear from anyone looking to pursue a career in surveying.
