It has been a very exciting, engaging and challenging first six months here at Vickery Holman. I first started back in July 2023 last year, apprehensive about the move to another region of the country. I very quickly realised that summering in Cornwall a couple of times in my life did not mean I knew the region well. After many solo site visits, I came to understand and admire a lot of the local towns, villages and hamlets here in the South-West.
In my first 3 months, I was working within the agency team which was a great way to get to know the region more intimately, I was dealing with a wide range of properties including offices, commercial industrial units and shops. I had opportunities to meet a lot of other local agents and solicitors in the area who I now know on a first name basis further cementing myself into the work culture here in Exeter.
I felt particularly privileged to be invited alongside a few of my colleagues to the Exeter Property Awards at Sandy Park where VH won Employer of the Year award for 2023.
These past few months, I rotated into the General Practice department, after my time in agency helped me learn about the area and improved my people skills I have utilized this into my new range of tasks, primarily lease advisory and rating which has and is providing me with an abundance of experience to help me prepare for the APC I am working towards. I know I can count on the continued support from my colleagues through this process.
