How to Handle Lease Renewals
When a commercial lease reaches the end of its term, the parties can choose to renew the lease, or not. In the event of a renewal, both parties need to negotiate and agree several issues. This process can be delicate and require careful handling as well as in depth knowledge of the local and regional market, the process and the legal requirements on either party.
The condition and maintenance of the property needs to be considered, especially as this can involve considerable sums of money if repairs or changes are required.
