Vickery Holman were commissioned by Winter Rule Chartered Accountants (new PKF Francis Clark) to review their existing site with a view to a need for increased space After searching for several sites within Truro it was decided that the existing site should be considered for redevelopment.
With an increased direct parking requirement as well as more square footage for office space, it was considered to raise the existing building by one storey to gain a complete undercroft area of car parking to increase the existing facility on the site.
In addition to the existing two storeys, a third storey is tagged onto the new building taking the overall height from two up to four storeys. Individual office space, bespoke conference rooms, balconies and structural glazing have all been added into the design while, with a principally North–facing workspace, the solar gain of the South elevation can be managed to minimize the building’s heating and cooling requirements.
In terms of costing as a turnkey package, the office space (completed less furniture) has a cost of £1,207 per sq m with the undercroft car park area having a cost of £750 per sq m.
Vickery Holman provided strategic advice including option approvals, design planning and build contract administration.
