James is a Chartered Building Surveyor who joined Vickery Holman’s Building Surveying team in 2022 and provides advice to clients across a variety of instructions within the Projects, Surveys and Litigation faculties.
Before joining Vickery Holman, James trained in Architecture, completing his undergraduate degree in 2019. Following this he completed his Masters in Building Surveying in 2022 before achieving his chartered status in 2025. His architectural roots have provided him with a strong design foundation, enabling him to deliver well-considered design solutions and guide clients through planning and statutory consents, tender, contract administration and completion.
Alongside this, James regularly supports clients with dilapidations, Land Registry compliant plans, and a wide range of surveys including commercial and domestic pre-acquisition surveys, reinstatement cost assessments and planned preventative maintenance schedules. He has also acted on Party Wall matters for both building owners and adjoining owners, helping clients navigate their responsibilities under the Party Wall etc. Act 1996.
In his spare time, James has contributed to the development of RICS Matrics Cornwall and sits on the committee, helping to deliver events to RICS early professionals. Outside of work he enjoys surfing, climbing and freediving as well as exploring the Cornish coastline.
