Situation
Our review of the business rates assessment found the rateable value to be excessive and not justified by the rent in the lease for the unit, nor by the available comparable evidence.
Solution
We carried out thorough comparable evidence research and submitted a Check to the Valuation Office Agency (VOA), followed by a Challenge.
Outcome
The outcome was the reduction of the rateable value from £14,750 to £12,000, meaning the client qualified for 100% small business rates relief and received a refund of circa £22,000.
