Senior Building Surveyor

Matthew is a senior surveyor and an integral member of the building surveying department in Plymouth. He undertakes a wide range of instructions, such as commercial and residential building and condition surveys, specific defect inspections, expert advice reports on timber biodeterioration, refurbishment and conversion projects, dilapidations, building repairs, party wall advice, CDM principal designer duties and reinstatement cost assessments. Among his particular interests are historic and listed buildings, non-traditional construction, sustainability and all matters relating to the use and specification of timber in buildings.

Matthew initially followed a career in the timber industry after obtaining a degree in Forest Products Technology, before deciding to become a chartered surveyor. After following a postgraduate diploma in Rural Property Management, Matthew qualified as a technical surveyor in residential survey and valuation and subsequently a member of the RICS and a chartered environmentalist. As a Plymothian, Matthew has significant knowledge of the South West region in general.

Outside of work Matthew enjoys music, travelling and spending time with his young family. In addition he has a particular interest in visiting architecturally significant sites and buildings.
